Amazon Polly Adds 9 AWS Regions, Korean Language Support, and a New Indian English Voice

Amazon Polly is an AWS service that turns text into lifelike speech. Today, we are excited to announce that Amazon Polly is available in nine additional Regions, expanding the total number of Regions where Polly is available to 14. We are also excited to announce the release of  Korean language support, and that we have added a new Indian English voice to our Text-to-Speech portfolio. We are pleased to present Seoyeon, a new Korean female voice, and Aditi, a new Indian English female voice.

Now launched in the following 14 AWS Regions, Amazon Polly is dedicated to providing maximum stability and lowest latency for all customers around the globe: Asia Pacific (Mumbai), Asia Pacific (Seoul), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), Canada (Central), EU (Frankfurt), EU (Ireland), EU (London), South America (São Paulo), US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (N. California), and US West (Oregon).

Since Amazon Polly was launched at re:Invent 2016, one of the most common requests has been for additional language support. Among the many languages that customers have requested, Korean has been one of the most frequent. In response to customer demand, we are very pleased to announce the release of our first Korean voice, Seoyeon.

We are excited to add yet another voice to our portfolio today, by introducing Aditi. She joins our other female Indian English voice, to offer additional voice selection for this language.

Now, let’s hear Seoyeon and Aditi introduce themselves:
