AWS Service Catalog Launches Solution Blueprints in GitHub for APN Partners to Leverage

By Abel Cruz, Global Business Development Manager at AWS

AWS Service Catalog_inlineA number of AWS Partner Network (APN) Consulting Partners have told us they would like to have access to a repository of solution blueprints that address common business patterns.

To meet this need, AWS Service Catalog is now providing easy access to common and foundational AWS-based solutions and reference architectures in GitHub. These blueprints have been designed, built, and verified by Amazon Web Services (AWS) solutions architects and APN Consulting Partners.

The reference architectures available in GitHub adhere to AWS best practices for security and high availability. In providing these, our goal is to improve customer experience and enable self-service by sharing commonly deployed AWS solutions. In addition, the blueprints provide, as appropriate, one-click deployment using AWS CloudFormation, AWS Service Catalog, and related AWS technologies.

Which Blueprints are Available on GitHub?

By making these reference architectures available publicly, APN Partners across the world can use them to accelerate any migration, design, deployment, or management effort on AWS while improving your regulatory compliance, governance, and security posture.

There are currently five reference architecture blueprints on the GitHub content repository:

We anticipate the number of blueprints available in GitHub to grow as our community of global APN Consulting Partners add to the repository.

At this time, the blueprints come exclusively from AWS solutions architects. We plan to establish a formal process for APN Consulting Partners to submit reference architectures for others to access via AWS Service Catalog.

How Much Does it Cost to Use the Blueprints?

All of the content provided in the AWS Service Catalog content repository on GitHub is available at no additional charge.

How Do I Gain Access to the Content?

You can download the blueprints directly from GitHub, or you may contact your APN representative who can connect you with the AWS Service Catalog team to gain additional guidance and support when implementing these AWS solutions.

Are the Blueprints Safe to Use?

AWS has made efforts to create safe and repeatable blueprints for users. However, as expressed in the AWS Service Terms, Amazon.com specifically disclaims all warranties in respect of the assets provided in GitHub. Furthermore, users acknowledges that content may in fact have bugs and/or may malfunction. Users expressly acknowledge there is inherent risks associated with using or testing non-production products or services.

What is AWS Service Catalog?

AWS Service Catalog allows organizations to create, manage, deploy, and share catalogs of AWS-based products and solutions. This can include everything from virtual machine images, servers, software, and databases to complete multi-tier application architectures.

AWS offers a broad set of cloud-based products that help organizations move faster, lower IT costs, and scale. However, as more AWS services become available, speed of adoption can suffer while customers and APN Partners learn how to incorporate, secure, govern, and optimize their use. AWS Service Catalog helps organizations regain some of that speed and agility.

APN Partners Can Earn AWS Service Catalog Accreditation

You are invited to join the AWS Service Catalog team for the opportunity to achieve AWS Service Catalog Accreditation. This session offers participants an overview of the relevant services, an online accreditation exam, and required lab evaluation.

The AWS Service Catalog Accreditation is the first in the AWS Management Tools series and provides individual consultants from APN Partner organizations with the necessary validation to advise customers on provisioning governance on the AWS Cloud. Consultants, System Integrators (SIs), and Managed Service Providers (MSPs) will learn how to implement and manage the full lifecycle of cloud assets, simplifying and accelerating cloud adoption by focusing on the AWS Service Catalog.
