AWS Week in Review – January 26, 2015

Let’s take a quick look at what happened in AWS-land last week:

Monday, January 26	We added AWS Customer Succcess Stories from ClicThat, Concrete Software, eFront, Flypay, Geo.me, Kenshoo, IATA, Tadiran Telecom, Toronto Star, Wix, and YIT. We added a Second Location in Korea for CloudFront and Route 53. A new article showed you how to Build a Mars Rover Application with DynamoDB.
Tuesday, January 27	We announced Online Indexing and Reserved Capacity Purchasing Improvements for DynamoDB. We posted the AWS Webcast – Build Agile Applications in AWS Cloud deck to SlideShare. I recorded and published Episode #97 (direct download) of the AWS Podcast. This episode features an AWS Week in Review and an interview with the CEO of Koding.com. The AWS PHP Developer Blog reviewed some new WordPress on AWS Whitepapers. A post on the AWS Partner Network Blog announced New AWS Partner Success Stories from Mobiquity and Smartronix. A post on the Cloudability Blog showed you how to Fine-Tune Your Tags with Cloudability and the AWS Tag Editor. We updated the AWS SDKs, the AWS Command Line Interface (AWS CLI), and the AWS Tools for Windows PowerShell with support for DynamoDB’s new online indexing feature.
Wednesday, January 28	AWS Community Hero Lynn Langit posted Lessons Learned – Benchmarking NoSQL on the AWS Cloud (AerospikeDB and Redis). We launched Amazon WorkMail – Managed Email and Calendaring in the AWS Cloud. An article on Forbes.com profiled Andy Jassy of Amazon Web Services (AWS) His Trillion Dollar Cloud Ambition. A post on the AWS Windows and .NET Developer Blog covered Cross-Account IAM Roles in Windows PowerShell. A post on the AWS Ruby Development Blog provided some tips to help you to prepare for the Upcoming Stable Release of AWS SDK for Ruby – Version 2.
Thursday, January 29	We announced that the AWS SDK for Go is in the works. A post on the AWS Security Blog recapped some Recent AWS-Related Security Articles. I discussed Zend Server 8’s New Monitoring and Performance Tools. A post on the Dploy Blog announced that you can now Deploy Your Applications to Elastic Beanstalk in One Click. A post on the N2WS Blog offered a Cost-Performance Based Comparison of EBS Volume Types. Another post on the N2WS Blog showed you how to Backup and Restore Your Microsoft SQL Server on AWS Cloud. A helpful post on the Evident.io Blog covered GHOSTbusting in AWS. A post on the AWS Windows and .NET Developer Blog unveiled the Updated Amazon Cognito Credentials Provider. We updated the Amazon Linux AMI to version 2014.09.02. This version includes all bug fixes and security updates including the “GHOST” fixes described here. We added WorkDocs support to Amazon CloudTrail. A post on the 2nd Watch Blog advised you to Reevaluate Your VPC.
Friday, January 30	A post on the AWS Compute Blog invited you to Dive in to Amazon EC2 Container Service and featured a new video. A post on the Evident.io Blog recapped Evident on AWS Security at the AWS Loft San Francisco. A post on the Cloudlytics Blog introduced the New Cloudlytics Exhaustive User Analysis Report. I recapped recent AWS Expansion for WorkSpaces, Directory Service, CloudFront, Route 53, ElasticCache, and GovCloud. New products added to the AWS Marketplace include HVM versions of all Zend Server products prior to version 8, Easishare (hassle-free secure file syncing and sharing atop Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3)), SAIN3 WooCommerce (WordPress + LAMP + Webmin), SAIN3 Joomla (along with LAMP and Webmin), and SAIN3 Ghost (also with LAMP and Webmin). We added AWS Customer Succcess Stories from B!Cash, Calumet, Dash Labs, EasyTaxi, Miamed, and Milon.
