AWS solutions honored at NAB 2023
The National Association of Broadcasters Show (NAB) 2023 may be winding down, but the technological advancements on display at the show this year will continue to spur conversation for months to come. Cloud-based innovation in media and entertainment (M&E) was top of mind across the Las Vegas Convention Center halls, and especially at the Amazon Web Services (AWS) booth, where M&E specialists unveiled AWS Elemental MediaConnect Gateway, as well as advancements to the AWS Studio in the Cloud and AWS Color in the Cloud workflows.
AWS Elemental MediaConnect Gateway is a cloud-connected software application that transmits live video between on-premises multicast networks and AWS Elemental MediaConnect; it lets users easily build end-to-end live video contribution and distribution workflows in AWS at scale. Providing capabilities for end-to-end content production completely in the cloud, AWS Studio in the Cloud includes creative media applications running on virtual machines that are accessible to remote artists and can run at 12 bits with 4:4:4 color accurate monitoring throughout. Comprising AWS Cloud Digital Interface (CDI), a network technology for high-quality uncompressed video transport inside AWS, and MediaConnect for real-time JPEG XS encoding, AWS Color in the Cloud enables high-fidelity reference monitoring from the cloud in up to 12-bit color depth and 4:4:4 chroma subsampling for color grading, compositing, and quality control. We’re honored to see all three of these technologies recognized with industry awards at NAB 2023. AWS Elemental MediaConnect Gateway and AWS Studio in the Cloud each received NAB Show Product of the Year Awards, which are judged by a panel of industry peers and recognize the most significant and promising new products and technologies exhibited at the show. AWS Studio in the Cloud was also bestowed a Broadcasting & Cable (B&C) Best of Show Award and AWS Color in the Cloud received the TV Technology Best of Show Award.
Thanks to AWS Partners and customers for your ongoing support and continued drive to innovate, which make these technologies possible. Keep an eye out for more exciting innovations to come from AWS for M&E in the lead-up to SIGGRAPH and IBC 2023.
