Today, AWS announced the 11 participants chosen for the AWS Healthcare Accelerator Australia/New Zealand for Aged Care and Digital Health. The cohort is developing a range of solutions, using the power of the cloud, to improve equitable access to health, social, and aged care services; support aged care and health service providers to deliver higher quality care; and promote new and productive ways of delivering services.

Large scale AI in digital pathology without the heavy lifting

Pathology is currently undergoing a transformation. While microscopes still dominate many workflows, digital pathology combined with artificial intelligence (AI) is disrupting the space. AI tools can complement expert assessment with quantitative measurements to enable data-driven medicine. Ultivue is a healthcare technology (HealthTech) company that provides high-quality multiplex immunofluorescence assays and large-scale, AI-based computational pathology—built on AWS.

AWS announces 2023 AWS Space Accelerator to advance global space sustainability

Now in its third year, the AWS Space Accelerator is a hybrid technical, business, and mentorship opportunity open to space startups from around the globe who are looking to power their space missions using AWS. In 2023, the AWS Space Accelerator will call on teams and resources across Amazon to help emerging startups focus on cloud-powered solutions that support the use of space as a sustainable and usable environment for years to come, as well as solutions that positively impact life on Earth. The application period for the 2023 AWS Space Accelerator opens today, with proposals due by March 6, 2023.

UAE Space Agreement Signing

United Arab Emirates Space Agency and AWS sign agreement to support long-term growth in the region’s space ecosystem 

The United Arab Emirates Space Agency and AWS have signed a Statement of Strategic Intent and Cooperation that is designed to support the creation of a vibrant, sustainable, competitive, and innovative space sector in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). AWS will collaborate with the United Arab Emirates Space Agency and related UAE government space organizations on three initiatives designed to support the Space Agency’s long-term development goals.

Announcing nine startups selected to participate in the AWS Sustainable Cities Accelerator for Infrastructure

AWS announced the startups chosen to participate in the AWS Sustainable Cities Accelerator for Infrastructure. These startups are developing groundbreaking solutions to help cities address infrastructure-related sustainability challenges. Infrastructure, or the built environment, encompasses all aspects of our lives, and includes real estate, manufacturing, power, utility, and transportation systems. The nine startups in the cohort originate from four countries across North America, Latin America, and Europe, and represent a wide range of innovative sustainable solutions.

Supporting smart and sustainable transportation innovation at the ITS World Congress

This year, the Intelligent Transportation Society (ITS) World Congress brought together more than 6,000 industry professionals from 64 countries to discuss ways to advance the deployment of intelligent transportation technologies to save lives, improve mobility, promote sustainability, and increase access to communities across the globe. For the event, ITS organized a Global Innovation Competition sponsored by AWS to encourage the development of innovative solutions that address priority themes using cloud technology. New report: The economic impact of the new AWS Region in the Middle East

With the launch of the new AWS Middle East (UAE) Region, AWS is releasing an Economic Impact Study that estimates that the new infrastructure region will support an average of 5,984 full-time jobs annually in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) over the next 15 years through investments of AED 20.1 billion (US $5 billion). The study provides an overview of existing and planned AWS infrastructure investments in UAE, and the economic benefits AWS investments create for the UAE economy.
