CEU universities in Spain launches cloud computing education program with AWS Educate

CEU Universities Spain

In September 2020, CEU University will launch the Cloud Computing Program in collaboration with AWS Educate at three Spanish universities: Universidad CEU San Pablo (Madrid), Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera (Valencia), and Universidad Abat Oliba CEU (Barcelona). This is the first program of its kind in Spain. The news was announced during a virtual event on May 14.

The Cloud Computing Program will help create pathways for students to cloud technology careers. Students in the program will be enrolled in AWS Educate to learn curriculum mapped to skills and competency-based credentials required by AWS and other services for jobs in roles like cloud architecture, data analytics, cybersecurity, software development, and DevOps.

“Through this new program created in collaboration with AWS, CEU universities are paving the way for students to become the highly skilled professionals required by organizations,” said Rosa Visiedo, rector of the CEU San Pablo University and director of CEU Universities. “We are excited to collaborate with AWS and encourage the development of our students’ skills, providing them with the tools they need to become the pioneers of the 21st century. The integration of a cloud-centric curriculum aligned with professional needs will help prepare students for a changing world of work and create a new generation of highly skilled talent.”

The program will be taught online and complemented by practical work based on real experiences accessible through face-to-face and online sessions. In addition, the “Cloud Computing Program classroom”—powered by AWS—will allow students to share knowledge and collaborate with their peers to complete the challenges of each module.

“Integrating career-aligned cloud curriculum will help prepare students for the rapidly changing workforce and create a new generation of cloud skilled talent. With this program, we seek to build a strong pipeline of talent and cloud innovators,” said Ken Eisner, director of worldwide education programs for AWS and head of AWS Educate. “We’re thrilled to collaborate with CEU on this program, as they break new ground and expand online offerings in Spain and other Spanish-speaking countries, opening up opportunities for cloud computing careers for the global Spanish-speaking population.”

This new training will also work towards achieving the goals of the CEUTECH FOR GOOD initiative, which carries out projects that have a positive impact on the world. In each of the Cloud Computing Program’s modules, students will find challenges aimed at providing answers that improve the well-being of society through cloud computing solutions.
