How to make the most of your AWS Summit Washington, DC 2022 experience

On May 23-25, 2022, Amazon Web Services (AWS) will hold the AWS Summit Washington, DC at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. The no cost, three-day event will include more than 300 breakout sessions, chalk talks, customer lightning talks, builders’ sessions, and more, with a focus on how to accelerate innovation in the public sector. If you’re planning on attending, or thinking about attending, here’s how you can make the most of your AWS Summit Washington, DC experience:

Download the AWS Events mobile app to have everything you need to know about the AWS Summit Washington, DC with you on the go. Build your own agenda with the types of sessions and experiences that are tailored to your cloud journey. Build your own agenda ahead of the event

To make the most of your event experience, plan out your days with the session catalog. Use the session catalog in the event portal to favorite breakout sessions, chalk talks, builders’ sessions, and more. Your favorited sessions will populate your own personalized agenda, which you can access at any time through the AWS Events mobile app.

You can also use the agenda-at-a-glance to get a view of the full scope of breakout and interactive sessions based on multiple persona tracks, like new to cloud, decision maker, IT admin, data scientist, emerging tech, and more.

May 24 will feature sessions tailored for attendees new to cloud and decision makers. May 25 will feature deeper dive technical content as well as interactive content, like builders’ sessions—small group sessions led by an AWS expert who will help attendees build a service or product on their own laptop.

Register for industry-specific pre-day events

Federal civilian, federal financial services, defense, healthcare, and startup attendees can get industry-specific content in separate pre-day events on Monday, May 23. Each pre-day offer attendees the chance to learn and network with peers on industry-specific needs and solutions.

Register for the US Federal Civilian Pre-Day, US Federal Financial Services Industry Pre-Day, US Department of Defense Industry Pre-Day, Public Sector Healthcare Pre-Day, and Public Sector Startups Pre-Day in the event portal. Filter under “Session type” to select “Industry Pre-Day,” and star (favorite) your preferred pre-day.

There is also an AWS Partner Pre-Day for AWS Partners, which will include a forum, leadership circles, a luncheon, networking opportunities, and more.

Explore interactive experiences

Beyond the hundreds of lecture-style breakout sessions and hands-on chalk talks, attendees can explore other interactive experiences throughout the event.

From May 24-25, attendees can compete in the AWS DeepRacer League—the world’s first global, autonomous racing league—to win prizes, glory, and a chance to advance to the Championship Cup, all while strengthening your skills in machine learning.

The Expo Hall will also feature Obliteride, a community event that unites people of all ages, abilities, and fitness levels to have fun, honor loved ones, and raise critical funding to cancer research. Attendees can get involved by exercising for five minutes and AWS will donate $5 to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle. Find Obliteride in the Expo Hall in Booth #153.

Don’t miss the fully upfitted AWS Disaster Response Jeep Gladiator parked at the L Street Bridge. AWS customized this vehicle to integrate AWS Snow Family edge devices, networking, communications, and internet of things (IoT) gear into a rolling collaboration lab that supports humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR) use cases. AWS will stage demos that showcase how AWS services support disaster response needs at the edge.

Plus, check out onsite opportunities to connect with the AWS Training and Certification team to learn how to uplevel your cloud skills and modernize your organization with technical trainings, certifications, and more. There will be an AWS Skills Center Cloud Discovery Space, self-paced labs, spotlight labs, and more.

Get inspired by public sector leaders

On Tuesday, May 24 at 11:30 AM ET in Hall E, Max Peterson, vice president of worldwide public sector at AWS, will deliver the keynote address. Max will share announcements, customer stories, and updates on initiatives that we hope will inspire you. Three customer speakers will also share stories of how they’re using cloud technology to push boundaries and deliver innovative new solutions in government, healthcare, and aerospace and satellite industries. Network with peers and AWS experts

Beyond learning and developing your cloud skills, the AWS Summit Washington, DC is a time to meet new people and make connections across the public sector. You can network with peers and AWS experts in your field at the Industry Pre-Day events on Monday, May 23. From May 24 through May 25, the Expo Hall will be filled with AWS Partners and AWS experts ready to work with you to answer questions about how you can use the cloud to digitally transform your organization.

Plan to attend the Reception in the Expo Hall on Tuesday, May 24 beginning at 5:00 PM to meet with other attendees and peers. Plus, there will be a Closing Reception on Wednesday, May 25 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM in Hall DE.
