Baxter on Using Amazon Monitron for Predictive Maintenance

In this 2022 AWS re:Invent video, A.K. Karan, senior director of digital transformation at Baxter, discusses how the company improves operational efficiency with predictive maintenance using Amazon Monitron.

Baxter International Inc. (Baxter), a global medical technology leader, is driven by its mission to save and sustain lives. The company’s network of 70 manufacturing sites worldwide operates 24/7 in a highly complex, dynamic, and regulated environment. Every minute of production is critical, and every minute of downtime avoided is valuable not only to the company but also to its customers and patients. To reduce unplanned equipment downtime in its facilities, Baxter needed an equipment monitoring solution that was simple to deploy, equipment agnostic, cost efficient, and scalable. The company’s shift to a predictive maintenance strategy resulted in improved business processes using Amazon Monitron which prevented over 500 machine hours of unplanned downtime in its largest facility in the United States.
