Overview
Every week, the DP World Tour transforms a new venue into a world-class sporting event. Through a global schedule of tournaments, the Tour operates a complex technology environment supporting live scoring, broadcast production, digital platforms, tournament operations, and fan experiences.
As the organization expanded globally, its technology environment needed to evolve. Managing a combination of legacy infrastructure, multiple cloud environments, and distributed applications created complexity that limited the Tour's ability to scale efficiently and accelerate innovation.
To address these challenges, in late 2025, the DP World Tour partnered with AWS to migrate and modernize its technology foundation. Through a structured, milestone-based transformation, the Tour has begun moving towards a more scalable cloud environment designed to simplify operations, improve agility, and create the foundation required to unlock advanced analytics and artificial intelligence capabilities.

The DP World Tour is one of the world’s leading professional golf tours, showcasing the game’s greatest players through a global schedule of tournaments across Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and the Middle East. Founded in 1972, the Tour connects millions of fans through world-class competition, global broadcasts, and digital experiences. Each season, the DP World Tour brings together players, partners, broadcasters, and fans across some of the most prestigious venues in golf.
A structured migration approach modernizing a global technology environment
As the Tour expanded internationally to 40 events across 26 countries in 2026, they needed a technology foundation that could support global scale without disruption - while improving operational efficiency, enabling innovation, and reducing the challenges associated with managing multiple environments.
The Tour and AWS are actively collaborating on a comprehensive migration and modernization initiative designed around concurrent workstreams:
- Application Migration Assessment
- AWS Landing Zone Accelerator
- Innovating with AI (AI Commentary, Media Information Systems, Player Information Systems, and Consumer Insights Dashboard)
- Migrations from On-Prem/other cloud (European Tour Exchange (ETX), On Venue Scoring Systems (OVSS), Commentator Information System, Tournament Scoring-Data Collection, Clearpass)
Beginning with a detailed Application Migration Assessment of the Tour's core systems, AWS determined how each workload should move into their environment. Rather than assuming a single migration path, AWS analyzed six applications across the Tour's previous technology footprint to understand dependencies, operational requirements, and modernization opportunities. The assessment provided a clear, evidence‑based sequence for future migration phases, helping the Tour make architecture decisions grounded in current-state complexity while ensuring that tournament operations remain uninterrupted.
From there, a secure AWS Landing Zone using AWS Control Tower, AWS Organizations, and AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) Identity Center was created. This established the governance framework required to manage workloads securely while providing teams with a consistent cloud operating model.
By creating a standardized cloud foundation, the DP World Tour was able to move away from fragmented environments and establish a centralized platform capable of supporting future growth. The centralized platform has enabled DPWT to unify data that was spread across multiple partners on-prem systems and multiple cloud providers. Now that DP World Tour has built a unified data platform in AWS, they have created the foundation for AI innovations.
A blueprint for global enterprise migration
The DP World Tour's migration program shows how a global organization can make steady, measurable progress across multiple workstreams without interrupting critical operations.
Following the Application Migration Assessment and with the Landing Zone foundation in place, the Tour now has a governed cloud environment that supports the next phases of its modernization effort.
These workstreams are forming a structured approach that's helping the Tour reduce complexity, improve consistency across weekly tournament deployments, and prepare for new capabilities as each phase is validated.
Instead of a single stadium, we are building a smart city every week. With our tournament services now hosted in AWS, we will be able to deliver a connected and intelligent course with greater consistency and reliability, wherever we are in the world.
