NDTV is a major Indian news company, with three national channels—NDTV 24x7, NDTV India, and NDTV Profit—plus websites and apps that reach more than 1 billion people across India, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. The company’s digital products division—NDTV Convergence—sought a platform that could scale to serve this huge, multinational audience while keeping capital expenses in check. It chose Amazon Web Services to run its 10 public-facing websites and eight mobile applications. With AWS, NDTV can scale quickly to meet peak loads of more than 600,000 simultaneous users and 400,000 requests per second at a cost that is up to 30 percent less than if it operated its own data center.
