Sia Partners Provides Next-Generation Consulting with Generative AI on AWS

Sia Partners was founded in 1999, and data science became one of its business pillars in 2019. The company uses AI on Amazon Web Services (AWS) to empower its consultants and provide services to its clients, which span many industries. As an AWS customer and AWS Partner, Sia Partners uses a variety of AI and machine learning (ML) technologies. “We have been building large language models (LLMs) for years,” says David Martineau, deputy CEO and managing partner of the AI, data, and quantitative business line at Sia Partners. “In late 2022, we decided that the next step for our LLMs was to move beyond data extraction into content generation with generative AI.”

By early 2023, teams at Sia Partners were ready to deliver a chatbot that provides intelligent document research and content generation. The core of SiaGPT runs on Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS), a managed Kubernetes service to run Kubernetes on AWS, and the chatbot empowers consultants to deliver with higher accuracy and speed. Now, Sia Partners is targeting the next level of ML and generative AI innovation.

With SiaGPT, Sia Partners accelerates projects by giving teams an information extractor and prompt engine across vast volumes of documents. For example, the company uses a SiaGPT specifically for environmental, social, and governance (ESG) operations. SiaGPT for ESG provides near-real-time access to ESG documents and regulations, streamlines reporting, and optimizes ESG performance through valuable key performance indicators.

For model training, Sia Partners uses Amazon SageMaker, a service to build, train, and deploy ML models for any use case with fully managed infrastructure. “Adding LLMs to our existing AI framework was simple using Amazon SageMaker,” says Nicolas Douchin, head of engineering at Sia Partners. To scale its models, Sia Partners uses Amazon Bedrock, a fully managed service that offers high-performing foundation models from cutting-edge AI companies. Using these services, Sia Partners delivers proofs of concept to its clients 67 percent faster, and it scales while meeting ambitious service-level agreements.

With SiaGPT in place, Sia Partners is one of the first companies in France to use generative AI on AWS. “It’s exciting to see how people are using generative AI,” says Gerber. “We’re looking forward to seeing how this changes the way people work.”
