Overview

Customers today expect next-level engagement. Tailored, interactive, on point. And Idomoo is ready to deliver through its personalized video services powered by artificial intelligence (AI). With growing demand, the company needed to ramp up infrastructure performance, scale, and security.
It looked to Amazon Web Services (AWS), using cloud compute and storage to provide innovative video solutions to enterprises at scale. By building a new environment on AWS, Idomoo has improved video generation efficiency—making it 30 times faster and 8 times more cost-effective—while bolstering data security and helping clients remain compliant with local data protection regulations.

Opportunity | Searching for a Scalable Infrastructure to Satisfy Demand and Support Growth

Successful brands are increasingly using video to boost engagement and drive sales. But creating personalized, interactive content can be expensive and resource-intensive. This is where Idomoo comes in. Its next-generation platform helps businesses at every stage of the video creation process—from storyboarding to post-production—and gives them the ability to connect customer relationship management (CRM) data to deliver tailored experiences. With its popularity and client base expanding, Idomoo needed a more agile infrastructure to power its AI-based video solution.

“Being in the video mass production domain, our main requirements were significant performance improvement, scalability, and security,” says Udy Ravid, director of product management for Idomoo. “We wanted a cost-efficient solution in an automated platform that could support all the functions we needed to perform. We were also looking for a solution with advanced graphics processing unit [GPU] technology to grant us the ability to offer services on a larger scale.”
Ravid saw that moving from its on-premises infrastructure to AWS would give Idomoo these advantages, helping the video innovator meet demand while delivering compliance reassurance and a performance boost. “After testing a few alternatives,” says Ravid, “the GPU technology offered by AWS seemed to provide the best solution, fulfilling all our requirements in an optimized and cost-efficient manner.”

Solution | Accelerating Video Generation 30x and Realizing 8x Cost Savings Using AWS

Idomoo built its infrastructure on AWS, running business logic and visual processing units on GPU instances in Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) for secure, resizable compute in the cloud. It uses Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS)—an easy-to-manage relational database service optimized for total cost of ownership—for saving data and tracking activities. It also created an API Facade architecture on AWS to receive requests for personalized video generation via web services or other available interfaces.
The team securely manages millions of video files through Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3)—object storage built to retrieve any amount of data from anywhere. And for synchronization of system units, it uses fully managed message queuing solution Amazon Simple Queue Service (Amazon SQS). “Java is our programming language, and because it’s a fully automated system we also use several AWS software development kits,” says Ravid.
With its cloud-based environment on AWS, Idomoo has reduced its system monitoring and support requirements and can automatically scale when it needs to. “As a business serving tier-one companies, such as major mobile operators and banks, we experience a high volume of video generation and hosting requests in short bursts,” says Ravid. “The elastic nature of AWS, combined with Idomoo’s elastic architecture, allows us to work efficiently without incurring local hardware and maintenance costs.” That efficiency has been quantified, with Idomoo noting up to 30 times faster video generation and cost savings of up to 8 times. Ravid says, “AWS gives us performance, scalability, and security at a low cost so we can exceed our customers’ expectations.”

Outcome | Giving Global Brands the Power to Engage on a Higher Level

On AWS, meeting organizations’ needs for personalized, interactive, AI-powered video is simple for Idomoo. Being able to scale quickly on-demand without manual effort, handling data securely and compliantly in different regions, and minimizing the cost of mass production. All of this means a better, faster service, and a robust foundation for growth.
As the nature of consumer engagement with brands evolves, Idomoo will continue to deliver innovative next-generation video services that support transformational experiences. “AWS offers the ultimate solution for a company like Idomoo, enabling it to provide scalable and secure solutions to tier-one companies,” says Ravid. “The GPU technology multiplies scalability, speed, and cost-effectiveness.”
