Amazon Elastic Container Service for Kubernetes (EKS) clusters running in standard AWS regions are now compliant with the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) Moderate baseline.

Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) is a managed Kubernetes service that makes it easy for you to run Kubernetes on AWS without needing to install, operate, and maintain your own Kubernetes control plane. Amazon EKS is certified Kubernetes conformant, so you can leverage all benefits of open source tooling from the community and you can easily migrate existing Kuberentes applications running on upstream Kubernetes to EKS without needing to refactor your code.

With FedRAMP-Moderate compliance, customers that operate under FedRAMP guidelines can use Amazon EKS to run their Kubernetes clusters in US East (Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Oregon), and US West (N. California) regions.

The security and compliance of Amazon EKS is assessed as part of multiple AWS compliance programs. In addition to FedRAMP moderate baseline, Amazon EKS is compliant with SOC, PCI, ISO, IRAP, C5, K-ISMS, ENS High, OSPAR, HITRUST CSF, and is a HIPAA eligible service.
