Billing View

Control visibility and share access to cost management data within your organization

Why Billing View?

With Billing View, you can control access to cost management data within your organization on AWS. A billing view determines what cost management data is accessible by an AWS account in your organization, and what cost management data is used by different AWS Billing and Cost Management tools. You can create custom billing views to share access to subsets of your organizations’ data with member accounts, or use billing views created by services such as AWS Billing Conductor to view cost and usage data based on custom pricing plans or pricing rules with select AWS Billing and Cost Management tools.

Benefits

Enable business unit owners who manage multiple member accounts to access all of their cost management data without needing to access each account individually, saving end users time and eliminating the need for manual data aggregation.

Empower end users across your organization to independently visualize and understand their AWS spend using Cost Explorer and the AWS Billing and Cost Management homepage.

View the Bills page and create Cost and Usage Reports (CUR) using pro forma billing data corresponding to your billing groups when using AWS Billing Conductor.

How it works

With Billing View, cost management data is represented as an AWS resource. Through resource-based policies, you can configure what data is accessible to an account when using AWS Billing and Cost Management tools. A billing view can also be referenced in identity-based policies to allow users to perform specific IAM actions on the cost management data contained in a billing view. Custom billing views can also be shared with member accounts in your organization to grant them access to cost management data.

Use cases

Grant application owners and project managers access to project-specific costs without providing organization-wide cost management data.

Provide business unit owners with a comprehensive view of all costs across their unit's accounts.

Create Cost and Usage Reports (CUR) and a view of the Bills page with pro forma data for a billing group when using AWS Billing Conductor.
