Upgrade to the newest Amazon EC2 M5 and R5 instances and save
Your workloads have different characteristics and may have evolved over time, making it challenging to support them with high-performing, scalable and low-cost computing. That’s why we’ve added new Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) instances that come with the latest processor technology, to help you optimize your workloads even more and save.
Upgrade to new general purpose M5 and memory-optimized R5 instances
The general purpose (M5) and memory optimized (R5) instance families of Amazon EC2 now have easy upgrade options.
New! General purpose M5 instances. General purpose computing workloads benefit from a balance of compute, memory, and networking resources. New M5a instances are ideal for business-critical applications, web and application servers, back-end servers for enterprise applications, caching fleets, and app development environments.
New! Memory-intensive R5 instances. Memory intensive workloads benefit from memory-optimized instances with lowest cost per GiB of memory. These instances are ideal for high performance databases, distributed web scale in-memory caches, mid-size in-memory databases, real-time big data analytics, and other enterprise applications.
M5a and R5a instances are now available in six sizes, with 2, 4, 8, 16, 48, and 96 vCPUs, and they can be purchased as On-Demand, Reserved or Spot Instances. These new instances are available today in US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Oregon), Europe (Ireland), and Asia Pacific (Singapore) AWS Regions. Start upgrading and saving now on the AWS Management Console, AWS Command Line Interface (CLI), and AWS SDKs.
