The AWS Artificial Intelligence (AI) Hackathon

Build severless AI powered applications with pre-trained API language and computer vision services

Amazon Web Services (AWS) brings image and video analysis, natural language processing, speech recognition, text-to-speech, and machine translation within the reach of every developer. With machine learning services by AWS, you can easily plug-in pre-built AI functionality into your apps without having to worry about machine learning models.

Thousands of developers have used AWS's machine learning application services to build innovative solutions without deep machine learning expertise. We've seen customers use Amazon Polly and Amazon Translate to build two-way translator apps. Others have used Amazon Polly and Amazon Lex to break down communication barriers for individuals with special needs. And some have used Amazon Rekognition, Amazon Comprehend, and Amazon Transcribe to power a full social video platform that can extract visual metadata and sentiment to provide a new level of video analytics.

But, we're sure we're still only scratching the surface of what's possible. Today, we are excited to announce the AWS Artificial Intelligence (AI) Application Hackathon, the perfect opportunity to bring your ideas to life and compete for valuable prizes!

THE CHALLENGE

Put your skills to the test and apply vision, speech, and language intelligence to a new or
existing application. Use AWS's machine learning application services to gain customer
insights, personalize content recommendations, enable customer search, and much more.

Use AWS Lambda to write and run the logic for your application using serverless compute.

THE REWARD

Prizes include cash and AWS credits, which you can use to further develop your idea!

1st: $5,000 USD and $2,500 in AWS credits.
2nd: $3,000 USD and $1,500 in AWS credits.
3rd: $2,000 USD and $1,000 AWS credits.

THE RESOURCES

Use language, speech and vision machine learning APIs including Amazon Comprehend, Amazon Transcribe, Amazon Polly, Amazon Lex, Amazon Translate, and Amazon Rekognition

Use AWS Lambda for serverless compute.

Join the AWS AI Challenge Slack Channel to get expert help and collaborate with like minded participants!

Quick Start Guide:

Step 1 - Register for the AWS Artificial Intelligence Challenge here.

Step 2 - Sign in or create an account on AWS.

Step 3 - Learn about machine learning and serverless from AWS with documentation here in resources and consider inspiration on what you can build.

Step 4 - Build! Create a new project or add intelligence to an existing project. Shoot your demo video that demonstrates your project in action. Prepare a written summary of your application and what it does.

Step 5 - Provide a way to access your project for judging and testing. Include a link to your repo hosting the AWS ML service code and all deployment files and testing instructions needed for testing your project. (The Github or BitBucket code repository may be public or private. If the repository is private, share access with testing@devpost.com).

Step 6 - Submit your project here by November 7th, 2018 5:00PM EST and be sure to share the links to access to the repo and the deployment files.

Good Luck!
