Amazon Pinpoint now includes the ability to register Ten-Digit Long Codes (10DLC), and purchase toll-free phone numbers. Both 10DLC phone numbers and toll-free numbers are used to send SMS text messages to recipients in the United States. Both of these types of phone numbers enable you to send Application-to-Person (A2P) messages with improved delivery rates and at an affordable price.
10DLC was recently launched by mobile carriers in the United States. The purpose of 10DLC is to give carriers greater transparency into the messages that are sent across their networks. 10DLC will also reduce the amount of unsolicited content that is sent to mobile subscribers. To use 10DLC, carriers require that you register your company and use case. The carriers manage these registrations through an industry-wide authority known as The Campaign Registry. This registration process supports a variety of use cases, including marketing, transactional, and mixed-use messaging. Beginning today, you can complete this registration process directly in the Amazon Pinpoint console. For more information, see 10DLC settings in the Amazon Pinpoint User Guide.
Toll-free numbers offer easy setup and moderate throughput rates for multi-factor authentication and transactional use cases. Each toll-free number can be used to send up to three SMS messages per second. When you lease a toll-free number through the Amazon Pinpoint console, it’s ready for you to use immediately, with no registration process required. To learn more about toll-free numbers in Amazon Pinpoint, see SMS and voice settings in the Amazon Pinpoint User Guide.
