Alex is the author of The DynamoDB Book, the comprehensive guide to data modeling with DynamoDB, as well as The DynamoDB Guide, a free guided introduction to DynamoDB. He runs a consulting company where he assists clients with DynamoDB data modeling, serverless architectures, and general AWS usage. He has worked with all kinds of clients, from product companies to consultancies; from government agencies to publicly-traded enterprises. He has spoken about data design with DynamoDB at many conferences, including AWS re:Invent and AWS Summits, and he has assisted AWS in writing official tutorials for using DynamoDB.

Previously, Alex worked as an engineer at Stedi, Serverless, Inc., and Hudl. If you go even further back, Alex was briefly a corporate lawyer. He lives in Omaha, NE with his wife and four kids.
