Architecting with AWS

Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides a flexible and scalable cloud computing platform that can scale as your business scales. Architecting applications in the cloud presents new opportunities and challenges. In this course, Architecting with AWS, you will learn how to design and use AWS services for common IT applications and how to take full advantage of cloud scalability and elasticity. You will learn and discuss established patterns and reference architectures to use in the cloud.

This class, with a combination of lecture, discussion, and hands on exercises, will help you understand AWS architecture best practices and gain knowledge you can take back to your teams.

In this class, you and other architects will:

  • Dive deep into architecture patterns for common solutions on AWS: Web Applications, Batch Processing, and hosting internal IT Applications.
  • Explore design components and capabilities for scalability and elasticity and high availability.
  • Understand how to design for security, authentication, and authorization with AWS.
  • Explore migration paths to the cloud.
  • Learn how to design for cost optimization.

Logistics:

  • Seats are limited. Maximum capacity: 20
  • Students will ideally bring their own laptop to access supporting materials.
  • Class will be held 9:00am-5:00pm, lunch will be provided.

Important Note: this class requires attendees to have some existing knowledge or experience with AWS and have a conceptual understanding of the key infrastructure services (EC2, S3, RDS, etc), their features, and how they are used.
