Expanded functionality of the ec2-import-instance and ec2-import-volume CLI commands CLI commands ec2-import-instance and ec2-import-volume now upload images into Amazon EC2 after creating the import task. For more information, see Using the Command Line Tools to Import Your Virtual Machine to Amazon EC2 in the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud User Guide.
Introduction of ec2-resume-import CLI command The new ec2-resume-import CLI command is used to restart an incomplete upload at the point the task stopped. For more information, see ec2-resume-import in the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud CLI Reference.
Deprecation of ec2-upload-disk-image CLI command Instead, use ec2-import-instance or ec2-import-volume; these commands automatically upload a disk image into an S3 bucket after creating the conversion task.
New version of Amazon EC2 command line tools To take advantage of the new VM Import features, install the latest version of the Amazon EC2 command line tools from Amazon EC2 API Tools.
