New Features

FeatureDescription
Delay Queues and Message Timers The 2011-10-01 API version of Amazon SQS adds delay queues and message timers. Delay queues allow you to postpone the delivery of new messages in a queue for a specific number of seconds. Message timers allow you to postpone delivery of a single message for a specific number of seconds. For both delay queues and message timers, the delay period begins when you add the message to the queue. For more information about delay queues, go to Amazon SQS Delay Queues in the Amazon Simple Queue Service Developer Guide. For more information about message timers, go to Amazon SQS Message Timers in the Amazon Simple Queue Service Developer Guide.
Batch API actions The Amazon SQS 2011-10-01 API version adds three new batch API actions. You can send or delete up to ten messages with a single call to either SendMessageBatch or DeleteMessageBatch. You can also change the visibility timeout of up to ten messages with one call to ChangeMessageVisibilityBatch. For more information about the new batch actions, go to Amazon SQS Batch API Actions in the Amazon Simple Queue Service Developer Guide.
GetQueueUrl action The 2011-10-01 API version of Amazon SQS introduces a new GetQueueUrl action. You can quickly retrieve a queue's URL with GetQueueUrl. For more information about GetQueueUrl, go to GetQueueUrl in the Amazon Simple Queue Service API Reference.
