Building a Simple Serverless WebSocket with Stackery and AWS

With the addition of WebSocket support in Amazon API Gateway, we set out to build an AWS CloudFormation template to get the simplest WebSocket version. What we built was backed by an AWS Lambda function that responds directly to the client who initiated the request. We learned quite a few things along the way, and even ended up with an easy solution in Stackery for managing and deploying one of these simple WebSockets.

Accelerating Data Warehouse Migration to Amazon Redshift Using Cognizant Intelligent Data Works

Many organizations are looking to migrate existing, on-premises enterprise data warehouse systems to cloud-based data warehouse systems such as Amazon Redshift. Here, we discuss how Cognizant’s Intelligent Migration Workbench (IMW) can be used to accelerate the data warehouse migrations while converting Oracle PL/SQL and Tetradata BTEQ scripts. IMW makes it easy to move mission critical proprietary code to AWS, giving customers competitive edge through faster time to market.

Running Applications on Amazon EKS Using Amazon EC2 Spot Instances with Spotinst Ocean

While implementing a microservices architecture, Kubernetes can be a powerful tool to manage containers. However, if you are just starting out in the Kubernetes ecosystem, it can be hard to get a hang of. This post helps you get started with Amazon EKS to set up a production-ready Kubernetes cluster, and introduces Spotinst Ocean to help manage Amazon EKS clusters and reduce costs by provisioning clusters on Amazon EC2 Spot instances.

Migration-3

Demystifying Legacy Migration Options to the AWS Cloud

Many companies or institutions still possess legacy non-x86 systems in their datacenters: mainframe, midrange, or UNIX proprietary systems. Migrating these workloads across hardware architectures to the AWS Cloud requires advanced software technology. Short-term migration approaches mainly use hardware emulation, middleware emulation, automated refactoring, or middleware replatforming. This post highlights short-term migration options, their key technical differences, as well as their differentiated benefits.

Creating Energy IoT Solutions Using Intel SoC FPGA Devices and AWS Services

Power utilities around the world are headed towards the most radical shift in their business since their inception nearly 150 years ago. The digitization of the grid—along with the shifting requirements of regulatory bodies—creates new challenges and opportunities for utilities around the world. Intel and AWS are committed to providing the tools, platforms, and services to make these capabilities a reality. In that context, this post introduces the concept of Energy IoT.

Heimdall Data_AWS Solutions

Improving Application Performance with No Code Changes Using Heimdall’s Database Proxy for Amazon Redshift

Rewriting an application code for performance optimization generally requires a significant amount of effort. Also, IT and development groups using third-party applications like Tableau may not have access to the application code. Heimdall’s database proxy solution offers a flexible and cost-effective alternative to rewriting your application for performance and scale. Heimdall transparently provides SQL control and visibility to the application owner without (re)writing a single line of code.
