San Diego Law Enforcement agencies have been seeking new ways to approach some of their biggest challenges with technology. By building in the cloud, they hope to improve their ability to respond to incidents, log and analyze information, speed up investigations, and save lives.

As students prepare to go back to school, over 1,000 students, educators, university presidents, college administrators, superintendents, and business leaders from 43 different countries met in Seattle, Washington, to discuss the opportunities in the world of education, and how AWS can be used to create innovative solutions. The conference revolved around three core themes: building the workforce of tomorrow, innovation and transformation, and the role of machine learning in education. Since announcing the opening of the second AWS GovCloud (US) Region last year, we continue to focus on driving innovation and access to new services and infrastructure. This year, we launched over 220 services and features into the AWS GovCloud (US) Regions. This includes some of our customers’ most requested AWS services such as Amazon S3 Glacier, AWS PrivateLink, AWS Transit Gateway, AWS Resource Access Manager (RAM), Amazon Route 53, and Amazon Workspaces. We’ve also made it easier for customers to centrally manage compliance, access, licenses, deployment, and billing for workloads in AWS GovCloud (US) Regions with the recent launches of AWS Organizations, AWS Service Catalog, and AWS License Manager.

Authority to Operate (ATO) on AWS is an AWS Partner Network (APN) program, which provides resources to solution providers running on AWS who need assistance in their pursuit of a compliance authorization. This includes the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS), and many other compliance programs.
