Amazon Web Services (AWS) today announced 15 startup companies selected to participate in the inaugural AWS Education Accelerator. Announced in October 2023, the AWS Education Accelerator supports education technology (EdTech) startups who are innovating to enhance the teaching and learning experience and improve educational outcomes. AWS selects 13 startups to participate in the AWS European Defence Accelerator

AWS announced the 13 startups selected to participate in the AWS European Defence Accelerator. The startups offer solutions to help the European Defence industry enhance its energy resilience, secure information sharing, sensing and decision making, quantum, and cyber resilience for mission-critical needs for land, air, maritime, space, and cyber domains. Applications were invited from startups around the globe who are interested in doing business with defence and national security organizations across Europe.

AWS and Halcyon announce climate resilience fellowship cohort

AWS announced the 2023 cohort of the Halcyon Climate Resilience in Latin America and the Caribbean Fellowship. AWS is sponsoring this fellowship with Halcyon, a Washington, DC-based nonprofit supporting impact-driven startups, to accelerate solutions that address the compounding effects of climate change. The focus of this fellowship is to help 10 innovative startups address the intersection of climate change and social determinants of health to provide more equitable health and life outcomes.

Climate change is a significant factor in many health-related issues, from the increase of pest-related illness, to food scarcity, access to clean air and water, and beyond. Recognizing the power the cloud has to amplify technologies that mitigate many of these issues, AWS is sponsoring a new fellowship with Halcyon, a Washington, DC-based nonprofit supporting impact-driven startups. Designed for entrepreneurs seeking to build climate resilience across Latin America and the Caribbean, the Halcyon Climate Resilience Intensive Fellowship aims to combat the compounding effects of climate change on poverty, food insecurity, health disparities, and displacement.

AWS launches 2023 European Defence Accelerator for startups

To support defence and national security customers, AWS is launching the AWS European Defence Accelerator. The AWS European Defence Accelerator’s goal is to support startups with AWS Cloud technologies to provide energy resilience, secure information sharing, sensing and decision making, quantum, and cyber resilience solutions to support a range of customer mission needs. United Arab Emirates Space Agency and AWS sign agreement to support long-term growth in the region’s space ecosystem 

The United Arab Emirates Space Agency and AWS have signed a Statement of Strategic Intent and Cooperation that is designed to support the creation of a vibrant, sustainable, competitive, and innovative space sector in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). AWS will collaborate with the United Arab Emirates Space Agency and related UAE government space organizations on three initiatives designed to support the Space Agency’s long-term development goals.

AWS announced the startups chosen to participate in the AWS Sustainable Cities Accelerator for Infrastructure. These startups are developing groundbreaking solutions to help cities address infrastructure-related sustainability challenges.
