Amazon ElastiCache for Memcached Documentation

Amazon ElastiCache for Memcached is a Memcached-compatible, in-memory, key-value store service that can be used as a cache or a data store. ElastiCache for Memcached can be used for use cases where frequently accessed data must be in-memory.

Performance

Amazon ElastiCache for Memcached works as an in-memory data store and cache to support applications requiring sub-millisecond response times. By utilizing an optimized stack running on customer dedicated nodes, Amazon ElastiCache provides you fast performance.

Hardened

Amazon ElastiCache for Memcached supports Amazon VPC, enabling you to isolate your cluster to the IP ranges you choose for your nodes, and use them to connect to your application. ElastiCache monitors your nodes and applies the necessary patches. ElastiCache for Memcached offers encryption in transit using Transport Layer Security (TLS).

Memcached-Compatible

Memcached is a widely adopted memory object caching system. ElastiCache is compatible with Memcached, so popular tools that you use today with existing Memcached environments will work with the service.

Scalable

Amazon ElastiCache for Memcached includes sharding to scale in-memory cache.

Managed

Amazon ElastiCache for Memcached performs management tasks such as hardware provisioning, software patching, setup, configuration, monitoring, and failure recovery. It monitors your clusters so that you can focus on higher value application development.

Auto Discovery

ElastiCache for Memcached Cluster Client with Auto Discovery connects to a single cluster endpoint and gets configuration information about other nodes. When nodes are added or removed, the client reconfigures itself to use the most current set of nodes.
