Detailed Description

Developers can earn money and drive traffic to Amazon.com by adding rich content and powerful capabilities to their sites in the following ways.

Detailed Product Information
Retrieve detailed product and pricing information for all products being sold on Amazon.com. For example, developers can retrieve the color, luster, size, and clarity of a pearl sold on Amazon.com. Product information is encapsulated by a rich set of XML tags so that developers can display as little or as much information as they wish.

Complex Search Capabilities
Create applications that use the same complex search functionality that is featured in the "Advanced Search" option on Amazon. This option enables customers to search by numerous attributes, including keywords, phrases, brand, price, category and more. Amazon Associates Web Service also provides many different search operations. Besides searching for items, search for seller listings, product categories, customer-generated tags, and customer content.  For example, you can search for customer wish lists by name, email address, city, and state.

Customer Reviews of Products
To further enhance the richness and merchandizing potential of your web sites and applications, the Amazon Associates Web Service enables developers to return customer reviews for a specific product, and all of the reviews written by a specific customer.

Community & Merchandising Tools
Get easy access to the tools that motivate customers to purchase items. For example, you can display product sales and promotions (or use the Amazon promotions RSS feed), list best sellers in a product category, provide product recommendations, list new releases, suggest products that are similar to those in the customer's shopping cart or suggest other items from the same merchant, and more.

Product Images
Access all product images for every product sold on Amazon. Typically, images of each item come in multiple sizes to fit various needs. For example, you might use many small, thumbnail images on a search results page and one large image on the product-specific web page.

Detailed Response Groups
Response groups enable developers to specify the information they want. The same operation returns different data according to the response group specified in the request. For example, in one request, you might return product images. In another request using the same operation and parameters, you might return offer information. The Amazon Associates Web Service includes over fifty response groups so that responses can be finely tuned.

Shopping Cart
Enable developers to add a fully functional Amazon shopping cart to their own web site or application. Shopping carts hold items until a customer is ready to buy. When a customer wants to purchase the items in their cart, a single request sends the purchase request to Amazon and the order is fulfilled. That's all there is to it.

Multi-Operation and Batch Interfaces
Developers can include up to two operations in a single request.  You can also run the same operation on up to ten items in a single request. Multi-operation and batch requests translate into fewer requests and faster application performance.

Detailed Error Messages
The Amazon Associates Web Service returns helpful information about request errors and provides troubleshooting suggestions. Developers can receive error messages in Japanese.

RSS Feeds

RSS Feeds enable you to access Amazon product data instantly through RSS, an XML-based format. RSS is short for Really Simple Syndication, and it's a fast, efficient Web tool that lets you collect information about your favorite products from Amazon -- in one place. Find new releases and top sellers across various product categories on the RSS Directory pageThe RSS service is provided free of charge solely for personal, non-commercial use.
