Introducing the Amazon ML Solutions Lab

We are excited to announce the Amazon ML Solutions Lab, a new program that connects machine learning experts from across Amazon with AWS customers to help identify novel uses of machine learning inside customers’ businesses, and guide them in developing new machine learning-enabled features, products, and processes.

Amazon has been investing in machine learning for more than 20 years, innovating in areas such as fulfilment and logistics, personalization and recommendations, forecasting, fraud prevention, and supply chain optimization. The Amazon ML Solutions Lab provides you access to the same talent that built many of Amazon’s machine learning-powered products and services. Amazon ML Solutions Lab engagements are designed to take you through the full process of implementing machine learning, combining educational workshops and boot camps, advisory professional services, and hands-on help building custom models with a your own data.

Machine Learning with the Amazon ML Solutions Lab

The Amazon ML Solutions Lab can help in three ways:

1. Brainstorming and problem formulation – Amazon’s machine learning experts will partner with you while working backwards from your potential opportunities to help you identify how machine learning can help, lay out the challenges involved and define a clear path to success upfront.
   
2. Custom modeling – Amazon’s machine learning scientists will work with your own data to build custom models which are ready to be deployed into production. These scientists are experienced in solving problems in areas such fulfillment and logistics, personalization and recommendation, fraud prevention, anomaly detection, transactional risk management, security, forecasting, capacity planning, text and mobile analytics and supply chain optimization, just to name a few.
3. Training –The Amazon ML Solutions Lab will not only help you move from idea to prototype quickly, but also impart knowledge, experience, and education through the process. This allows your developers to spread knowledge, newfound experience, and enthusiasm for machine learning throughout your organization, establishing good machine learning practices and centers of excellence.

A range of engagement models

The Amazon ML Solutions Lab will partner with you to customize the engagement model to your needs, including hosting you at a dedicated facility at the AWS Headquarters in Seattle or sending machine learning model developers to work on-site with you. In addition, depending on the nature of the solution, the length of an engagement can vary from weeks to months. If you already have data prepared for machine learning, AWS offers the Amazon ML Solutions Lab Express. This four-week intensive program starts with a boot camp for one week hosted at Amazon, and is followed by three weeks of intensive problem-solving and machine learning model building with Amazon machine learning experts.

The Amazon ML Solutions Lab will provide you with working models. In addition, you can expect to receive a significant amount of training and education along the way in the form of workshops, tutorials and bootcamps, so that developers can take what they have learned through the process and use it elsewhere in their organizations.
