The Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) works with federal, state, and local agencies across the US to shape national and global health outcomes by strengthening public laboratory systems and building effective laboratory response in public health emergencies. To support the swift exchange of health information across public health laboratories, governments, and organizations, APHL teamed up with Ruvos, a consulting firm and AWS Partner that specializes in health informatics and information technology, to create a secure messaging platform on AWS.

Cyber events are unfortunately becoming a common event in higher education. When Hartnell College experienced a cyber event in 2022, they used AWS while working with AWS Partner Ferrilli to recover and rebuild their systems. Based on the lessons learned from Hartnell College’s experience, higher education leaders can explore certain steps to better prevent and prepare against cyber events.

At the AWS Public Sector Partner Forum on the second day of the AWS Summit Washington, DC, Jeff Kratz shared how AWS is inventing and simplifying for AWS Partners, and innovating on behalf of our customers. According to the United States Constitution, public access to judicial proceedings is a right covered by the First and Sixth Amendments. To make hearings visible to the public, even when in-person attendance is limited, state and local governments are beginning to mandate many court proceedings be live streamed, often with a very short window to do so. The cloud-native media and asset management platform Nomad, which is built on AWS, helps governments implement scalable live streaming capabilities quickly and simply.

As consumption of materials continues to increase and competition for natural resources grows, building sustainable and resilient infrastructure is crucial in the fight against climate change. This is why AWS is launching the next AWS Sustainable Cities Accelerator cohort with a focus on infrastructure.
