The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) released an interim rule, the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement: Assessing Contractor Implementation of Cybersecurity Requirements (DFARS Case 2019–D041), which includes NIST SP 800-171 and Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) assessment methodology and requirements. Organizations have been planning for CMMC, and with the release of this interim rule, are now beginning to prepare and build strategy for CMMC compliance. How to plan for Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC)

Later this year, the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) accreditation framework will take effect, impacting U.S. DoD contractors, supply chain, solution providers, and systems integrators. The DoD estimates that more than 300,000 organizations will require certification. In addition, other U.S. federal agencies and international organizations may adopt a similar framework to protect their intellectual property (IP). No matter the size of your organization, cloud-based services can help you meet the requirements of CMMC.

Readying the warfighter: U.S. Navy ERP migrates to AWS

The U.S. Navy and SAP National Security Services (SAP NS2) migrated their largest SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) system – 72,000 users spread across six U.S. Navy commands – to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud. The milestone — which came 10 months ahead of schedule — will put the movement and documentation of some $70 billion worth of parts and goods into one accessible space, so the information can be shared, analyzed, and protected more uniformly.

Defense Logistics Agency migrates five applications to AWS GovCloud (US) ahead of schedule

The U.S. Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) successfully migrated five applications to AWS GovCloud (US) under the Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment (PIEE) hosting support contract with help from Credence Management Solutions, LLC., an AWS Partner Network (APN) consulting partner in the AWS Public Sector Partner Program. Working with AWS Professional Services, Credence migrated all five applications in just 138 days – almost six weeks ahead of schedule – using CloudEndure Migration.

The AWS Snowball Edge looks unassuming. Weighing in at under 50 pounds, it can be checked as a standard piece of airplane luggage, and yet, it is an extremely durable, portable piece of hardware. The AWS Snowball Edge is capable of petabyte-scale data transport with on-board storage and dense compute capabilities. It was engineered to perform in some of the world’s most extreme environments, including warzones at the tactical edge, in a secure and transportable fashion.

Tonight’s Fed 100 gala marks the thirtieth anniversary of the Federal 100 awards. These awards recognize the important work that federal government and industry leaders are doing with the help of technology.

BDP now supports securing, monitoring, and reporting on AWS GovCloud (US)

Enlighten IT Consulting, an AWS Managed Service Partner, is the prime integrator for the Department of Defense (DoD) Big Data Platform (BDP). BDP is a fully accredited government-owned platform used for storing, querying, and analyzing cyber data that runs at petabyte scale in AWS GovCloud (US). The BDP has been adopted by multiple defense and federal civilian agencies as the primary security information event management solution (SIEM) due to its ability to support petabyte-scale data ingest, processing, storage, and visualization without the burden of licensing cost or lock-in.
