AWS Asia Pacific (Osaka) Region

AWS Asia Pacific (Osaka) Region is the second AWS Region in Japan. The expansion of Osaka from its design as a Local Region to a standard region provides customers with a broader service portfolio, the ability to purchase on-demand instances, and the ability to architect workloads across three Availability Zones.

What is AWS Asia Pacific (Osaka) Region?

AWS Asia Pacific (Osaka) Region is the ninth region in Asia Pacific and the twenty-fifth region across the globe.

Customers with latency sensitive workloads in Western Japan can use Asia Pacific (Osaka) as their primary region. Customers can also run cross-region applications or operate active-active between regions, including the Tokyo region which is located 400km from the Osaka Region.

The Infrastructure of AWS Asia Pacific (Osaka) Region

AWS has the concept of a Region, which is a physical location around the world where we cluster data centers. We call each group of logical data centers an Availability Zone. Each AWS Region consists of multiple, isolated, and physically separate AZ's within a geographic area.

Availability Zone (AZ) is one or more discrete data centers with redundant power, networking, and connectivity in an AWS Region. AZ’s give customers the ability to operate production applications and databases that are more highly available, fault tolerant, and scalable than would be possible from a single data center.

All AZ’s in an AWS Region are interconnected with high-bandwidth, low-latency networking, over fully redundant, dedicated metro fiber providing high-throughput, low-latency networking between AZ’s. All traffic between AZ’s is encrypted.

To deliver content to end users with lower latency, Amazon CloudFront uses a global network of 230+ Points of Presence (218+ Edge locations and 12 regional mid-tier caches) in 89 cities across 46 countries.

The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Global Infrastructure delivers a cloud infrastructure that organizations can depend on—no matter their size, changing needs, or challenges.  Learn More »
