Signify Accelerates Innovation Using AWS IoT Services
Under the Philips Hue brand, Signify is a leader in smart home lighting. The Philips Hue brand is synonymous with quality and ease of use. As Signify planned entry to the home security category with Philips Hue Secure, the company needed to retain these values, while delivering its new product to market at scale in an accelerated timeframe.
The project objective was to maximize use of the mature existing architecture supporting Hue lighting; however Hue Secure cameras required a different solution—one optimized for battery, video data, and security notifications.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) serverless technology offered a solution in the form of AWS IoT Core and Amazon Kinesis Video Streams, whichquickly integrated with the existing Hue ecosystem adding video capabilities while maintaining quality and security. By building on AWS IoT services, Signify delivered the new product to market in just 18 months meeting the high quality expectations of the customer base and being fully integrated with the Hue system.

AWS IoT helped us build a product that we truly believe will enrich peoples' lives and the Philips Hue ecosystem. We were able to build the product faster than we imagined, allowing us to invest in the next wave of features for our customers.”
