Flow Users to track development metrics for my team

  • May 18, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Somewhat decent home page which has cycle time, velocity and tickets completed.
Really decent worklog on who is working on what and where are they spending their time
What do you dislike about the product?
I think cross team metrics can be challenging. I think there can be somewhat better aggregate analytics around PR reviews.Site itself seems to load slow in many areas.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Gives a birds eye view of how the team is doing and where can there be potential improvements. The one stop dashboard is really helpful in identifying bottlenecks

Bringing order to the chaos

What do you like best about the product?
What I find very useful in PSF is that you can work clearly see the metrics that are having the biggest impact on the team. From those metrics, I was able to tweak the team's process to see an immediate improvement.
What do you dislike about the product?
PSF provides a wealth of data, so I understand that it's a challenge to mesh this all together this content in a digestible format. I feel that UX experience needs some work, especially around how users can navigate between screens, as it can sometime feel clunky.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has solved the problem around how the teams uses Jira and Github, and what changes are needed to make sure that the team is working as efficiently as possible. It also made it possible to have better discussions within the team, as we can refer back to the data and discuss what might be the root cause of it.

Lack of actionable reports

  • May 17, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Not much. I started writing my own scripts because Flow would not give me what I wanted.
I like the idea of having a consolidated dashboard for my team, but the current dashboard doesn't provide actionable items that I can bring to my 1:1s
What do you dislike about the product?
The idea of Flow is good, but the current implementation is limited to when a PR was done, but it doesn't have what I need:
How is the employee performing this sprint when compared with other sprints?
Are the employees working in the same area of code that they are used to? (We can check that by Jira Components)
Is the employee spending more time than the norm when reviewing a PR?
Is it possible to set alarms for it?
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is not solving my problems. It is not benefiting me. If it was up to me, I would cancel Flow.

Flow features integration with popular developer tools such as GitHub. This integration allows Flow to analyze code repositories and provide insights into the skills and expertise of team members.
What do you dislike about the product?
Can be overly complicated in the data it provides. In some instances, Flow offers a lower level of confidence if data is missing or appears incorrect.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
assess, develop, and manage the skills of their engineering teams

All my developers in my team absolutely love Flow. They've learnt a lot about their improvement areas and can see improvement over time with data.

Flow metrics are helpful but UX isn't so good.

  • May 15, 2023

What do you like best about the product?
As a manager, it helps me identify whether the team needs help applying good coding metrics. Developers can also self-evaluate as those are available to everyone.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI is hard to navigate; buttons aren't clear where they will take you; sometimes, it takes many clicks to get to where we want to go, like seeing a single person's metrics, for example.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Flow gives me a good look into the team's coding practices which has been helping me set specific group and individual goals to make we all follow the latest standards, guidelines and best practices.

Good for coaching teams and IC's, missing key DORA metrics

  • April 25, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Team based metrics, reports feed into sprint retrospectives, individual coaching plans
What do you dislike about the product?
The lack of DORA metrics means that we need to use an additional tool to ensure we capture operational metrics.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Pluralsight Flow gives our teams visibility into how they are performing from a best-practice perspective (compared to industry standards). This helps teams recognize where they might improve.

Great for keeping the team on track

  • April 22, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use Pluralsight Flow in my fortnightly one-on-ones with my engineers. The metrics from Flow are great for giving me an idea of how my guys are tracking and where they need to improve.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the metrics are a bit hard to understand. Also, it would be great if there were more metrics around my people's comments on pull requests.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Pluralsight Flow helps me understand what my team is doing, how well they are doing it, and where they need to improve.
