Earlier this week, I was thrilled to host my first AWS Public Sector Partner Forum in advance of the AWS Summit Washington, DC. AWS joins the Digital IF Interoperability (DIFI) Consortium

AWS helps customers build satellites, conduct space and launch operations, and leverage cloud-powered infrastructure on the ground. To further promote scalability and flexibility across the space industry, AWS has joined the Digital IF Interoperability (DIFI) Consortium. The DIFI Consortium is an independent group of space companies, organizations, and government agencies from around the world that promote an open and simple standard to facilitate interoperability of ground systems supporting space operations.

AWS launches first Defence Accelerator for startups

For countries like the UK, being at the forefront of innovation is vital to maintaining an agile, swift, and effective defence strategy. To support this need, AWS is launching its first Defence Accelerator for UK based startups, and startups from Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) doing business in the UK.

Ordering free COVID-19 test kits with the help of the cloud

This year, to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, the Biden administration committed to making free COVID-19 test kits available to U.S. households through covidtests.gov. AWS is honored to support this initiative by working with the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) to make sure the website for test kit ordering meets nationwide demand.

Announcing the 12 startups selected for the AWS Sustainable Cities Accelerator

AWS is pleased to officially announce the innovative startups chosen to participate in the AWS Sustainable Cities Accelerator. These selected startups are developing groundbreaking solutions to help cities address sustainability challenges, like tackling traffic analysis, smart internet of things (IoT) lampposts, and much more. AWS launched the Sustainable Cities Accelerator program in March to help address the crucial need for innovation and collaborative solutions to address global climate and clean tech challenges. The 12 finalists in the cohort originate from four countries across North America, Latin America, and Europe, and represent a wide-range of innovative sustainable solutions.

AWS launches next AWS Healthcare Accelerator to propel startup innovation in health equity

At AWS, we believe the cloud can help address long-standing social and structural disparities that impact health outcomes. That’s why we have chosen to focus the next AWS Healthcare Accelerator on health equity. Launching today, this accelerator builds on our larger focus on this issue that includes a $40M commitment we made last September to support customers developing solutions to reduce health inequities. The AWS Healthcare Accelerator, delivered in collaboration with KidsX, aims to empower all startups that focus on improving health equity.

AWS announces the 10 startups selected for the 2022 AWS Space Accelerator

AWS is pleased to officially announce the selection of the 10 participants for the 2022 AWS Space Accelerator. The selected startups each have an inspiring and innovative vision for how to transform the growing global space industry across a diverse set of mission areas, including Earth observation (EO), space situational awareness, launch and propulsion, and space exploration.

AWS supports development of U.S. Army’s first enduring tactical cloud environment

In 2020, the U.S. Army’s XVIII Airborne Corps embarked on a mission to become the Army’s data-centric Corps. Headquartered at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the XVIII Airborne Corps—also known as the “America’s Contingency Corps” — is the Army’s strategic response force and is at the ready to deploy anywhere in the world to defend the US and its Allies. To enable their data ambitions, the XVIII Airborne Corps sought to establish the first enduring tactical cloud presence for the conventional Army and leveraged the AWS Cloud to support their journey.

Delivering secure and operational telemedicine for military combat training with AWS

The Uniformed Services University Health System (USUHS) is the nation’s federal health professions academy, offering a curriculum and educational experience that emphasizes military healthcare, leadership, readiness, and public health. Each year, USUHS holds a training exercise called Operation Gunpowder to help prepare third-year medical students for varying field-care challenges they may encounter during their service. Over the course of the eight weeks prior to the training exercise, AWS collaborated with Deloitte to deliver ancillary system and operational medicine telemedicine best practice training to the participating students. “This is the first time telemed has truly delivered,” reported attending experts in special operations medicine.
