ENGIE Creates Digital Platforms to Accelerate Zero-carbon Energy Transition, Powered by AWS

ENGIE, headquartered in France, is a global energy company focused on renewable and low-carbon distributed energy infrastructures, helping its clients achieve a carbon-neutral future.

In this video, Biljana Kaitović, executive vice president of digital and IT and group chief information officer (CIO), discusses the world’s hunger for energy and the critical role that data and digital technology play in developing energy sources that are accessible, affordable, secure, and green.

The company built a “Common Data Hub” on Amazon Web Services (AWS) to make more innovative use of over one petabyte of data across thousands of projects. Built using AWS technologies such as Amazon S3, Amazon Redshift, AWS Glue, and Amazon SageMaker, in Barcelona, ENGIE has reduced energy consumption in its heating and cooling network by 15 percent.

AWS technology helps ENGIE produce renewable energy more efficiently, and ENGIE provides AWS with electricity from wind and solar in the United States, United Kingdom, Italy, and France, helping AWS reach its goal of powering its operations with 100 percent renewable energy.
