Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) I7ie instances are powered by 3rd generation AWS Nitro SSDs offering up to 120 TB of local NVMe storage. I7ie instances offer the highest local NVMe storage density in the cloud. They use 5th generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors with an all-core turbo frequency of 3.2 GHz delivering up to 40% better compute performance and up to 20% better price performance over I3en instances. I7ie instances deliver up to 65% better real-time storage performance, 50% lower storage I/O latency, and 65% lower storage I/O latency variability compared previous generation instances. AWS Nitro SSDs are custom-designed by AWS and provide high I/O performance, real-time latency, minimal latency variability, torn write prevention and security using always-on encryption.

These instances are designed to run applications that require high throughput and real-time latency access to large amounts of data residing on instance storage such as NoSQL databases (e.g., Cassandra, MongoDB, Aerospike, HBase, RocksDB), distributed file systems, search engines, and analytics.
