Amazon RDS on VMware
Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) on VMware makes it easy for you to set up, operate, and scale databases in on-premises and hybrid environments, and to migrate them to AWS. RDS on VMware automates database management regardless of where your databases are deployed, freeing you up to focus on developing and tuning your applications. With RDS on VMware, you get the high availability, scalability, durability, and management simplicity of Amazon RDS for your on-premises deployments.
RDS on VMware automates database provisioning, operating system and database patching, backup, point-in-time restore, storage and compute scaling, instance health monitoring, and failover. You can also use RDS for VMware to enable low-cost, high-availability hybrid deployments, database disaster recovery to AWS, read replica bursting to Amazon RDS, and long-term database archival in Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3).
Amazon RDS on VMware will be generally available soon and will support Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MariaDB databases.
With Amazon RDS on VMWare, you can use a single, simple interface to:
Provision database instances on-premises and in hybrid environments in minutes, and automate operating system and database patching.
Scale storage, compute, and memory of databases in VMware environments with just a few clicks.
Scale with read replicas, simplify migrations to AWS, configure high availability (HA) clusters, back up, and restore your databases.
