How it works
Access 20 hours of foundational AI/ML content developed by AWS experts. Students with no prior ML experience can learn the fundamentals with easy-to-understand, self-paced content to take you from first-time developer to the top of the AWS DeepRacer leaderboard.
For the first time, AWS DeepRacer is available for free to students, providing 10 hours of monthly training and 5 GB of model storage. Students can train a RL model in a simulated 3D racing environment using the AWS DeepRacer service. The 10 free training hours per month are applied to the environment exploration time the model spends optimizing performance around the virtual track, using a reward function that students develop. As your RL model learns it will get better track times, and you’ll improve your lap times in the AWS DeepRacer Student League.
Once you’ve trained an RL model in the virtual 3D simulation environment, submit your model to the monthly student league races. Train and improve your model and submit your time to climb the leaderboard. One unique aspect of the AWS DeepRacer Student League is that all users are limited to the same 10 hours of monthly service usage, and only AWS DeepRacer–trained models can participate. This ensures that all students have access to the same model training resources, and must strategically use their monthly allotment to top the leaderboard.
