How WorkSpaces Thin Client pricing works
You pay up front for the WorkSpaces Thin Client device plus a monthly service fee per device to manage, monitor, and maintain your thin client fleet in the WorkSpaces Thin Client management console. You begin paying the monthly service fees for the WorkSpaces Thin Client device when the end user activates the device, and you stop paying the monthly service fee when the device is deleted from inventory through the WorkSpaces Thin Client console. Standard pricing for Amazon WorkSpaces, Amazon WorkSpaces Web, and Amazon AppStream 2.0 applies when these services are used with WorkSpaces Thin Client.
Pricing details
WorkSpaces Thin Client is available as a standalone device, or it can be bundled with an accessory hub. You pay a monthly service fee per device for remote management service. WorkSpaces Thin Client, hubs, and other peripherals can be purchased through Amazon Business. The monthly WorkSpaces Thin Client service fees are billed through your AWS account.
Billing details
You receive separate bills from Amazon Business and AWS. Your Amazon Business bill includes one-time charges for WorkSpaces Thin Client devices, hubs, monitors, and peripherals. Your AWS bill includes the monthly WorkSpaces Thin Client service fee for each device and the monthly, hourly, or other usage-based fee for WorkSpaces, WorkSpaces Web, and AppStream 2.0. If a specific device is enrolled in one region, and gets re-enrolled in a different region, you may get charged for the device for every region it is enrolled in. If a specific device that is enrolled in one region, gets re-enrolled in a different region, you may get charged for the specific device for every region it is enrolled in.

Pricing example
You have 100 users in the US accessing their end-user computing service in US West (Oregon), each requiring a WorkSpaces Thin Client device with the ability to extend the display across dual monitors. These users require WorkSpaces as their full-time desktop. You create a WorkSpaces Thin Client environment that connects to the Windows Performance Bundle with 2 vCPU, 8 GB memory, 80 GB root volume, and 10 GB user volume, with a fixed price of $45 per WorkSpaces instance per month (see WorkSpaces Family Pricing for more details). Monitors and peripherals are not included in this example.
One-time charge for WorkSpaces Thin Client and hub
- 100 devices (WorkSpaces Thin Client and hub) * $279.99 each = $27,999 (plus shipping and tax) billed by Amazon Business
Monthly service charges
Month 1:
- At the beginning of the first month, 50 of the 100 thin clients are activated by end users and connected to Windows Performance Bundles in US West (Oregon).
- 50 thin clients * $45 WorkSpaces service Windows Performance Bundle monthly fee per virtual desktop = $2,250
- 50 thin clients * $6 WorkSpaces Thin Client service monthly fee per thin client = $300
- Total month 1 AWS bill for WorkSpaces virtual desktop and WorkSpaces Thin Client service = $2,550
Month 2:
- At the beginning of the second month, 10 more thin clients are activated by end users and connected to Windows Performance Bundles.
- 60 thin clients * $45 WorkSpaces service Windows Performance Bundle monthly fee per virtual desktop = $2,700
- 60 thin clients * $6 WorkSpaces Thin Client service monthly fee per thin client = $360
- Total month 2 AWS bill for WorkSpaces virtual desktop and WorkSpaces Thin Client services = $3,060
- In the middle of the second month, 5 thin clients are deleted from inventory through the WorkSpaces Thin Client console.
- You are charged for a full month of service for these 5 thin clients because any unique thin client managed at any point during the month is charged a full month’s service fee.
Month 3:
- Assuming no additional thin clients are activated or deleted during month 3, you are billed for 55 thin clients in month 3 (50 unique thin clients during month 1 plus 10 unique thin clients activated during month 2 minus 5 unique thin clients deleted during month 2).
- 55 thin clients * $45 WorkSpaces service Windows Performance Bundle monthly fee per virtual desktop = $2,475
- 55 thin clients * $6 WorkSpaces Thin Client service monthly fee per thin client = $330
- Total month 3 AWS bill for WorkSpaces virtual desktop and WorkSpaces Thin Client services = $2,805
