This latest Quick Start from AWS automatically deploys Confluent Platform into a highly available, secure AWS Cloud environment in a few simple steps, in about 15 minutes.

Confluent Platform is the complete streaming platform for large-scale distributed environments, and is built on the core technology of Apache Kafka. Confluent Platform enables all your interfaces and data systems to be connected, so you can make decisions leveraging all your internal systems in real time. This Quick Start is for users who are looking to evaluate the full range of Confluent Platform and Apache Kafka capabilities in the managed infrastructure environment of AWS. The Quick Start supports two software editions: Confluent Open Source and Confluent Enterprise.

The Quick Start includes AWS CloudFormation templates that set up the following environment on AWS:

  • A virtual private cloud (VPC) configured across two Availability Zones with two public subnets, to provide the network infrastructure for your Confluent Platform deployment
  • Groups of EC2 instances for each logical role (zookeeper, broker, worker) in the Confluent deployment
  • Security group settings to allow for necessary network traffic into the instances

You can use the Quick Start to create a new VPC or to deploy the software into your existing AWS infrastructure.

The Quick Start also includes a guide with step-by-step deployment and configuration instructions. To get started, use the following resources:

About Quick Starts

Quick Starts are automated reference deployments for key workloads on the AWS Cloud. Each Quick Start launches, configures, and runs the AWS compute, network, storage, and other services required to deploy a specific workload on AWS, using AWS best practices for security and availability. This is the latest in a series of Quick Starts built by AWS in collaboration with AWS partners to automate the deployment of popular products and technologies on AWS.
