This new Quick Start automatically deploys HashiCorp Nomad, which is a distributed cluster manager and scheduler for deploying applications, on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud.
This Quick Start uses AWS CloudFormation templates to deploy HashiCorp Nomad into a virtual private cloud (VPC) in your AWS account. The modular implementation uses and extends three other Quick Start reference deployments:
- Amazon VPC Quick Start for a flexible, scalable networking foundation based on AWS best practices
- Linux bastion hosts Quick Start for security
- HashiCorp Consul Quick Start for service discovery
The architecture spans three Availability Zones for high availability, and includes NAT gateways and Linux bastion hosts for Internet connectivity. The Quick Start sets up a configurable number of HashiCorp Consul and HashiCorp Nomad server and client instances within separate Auto Scaling groups. You can build a new VPC for HashiCorp Nomad, or deploy the software into your existing VPC. You can customize your deployment by configuring your network resources and customizing the instance type and capacity for the Nomad and Consul nodes.
The Quick Start also includes a guide with step-by-step deployment and configuration instructions, and a sample Nomad file to help you get started. To deploy Nomad on AWS, use the following resources:

About Quick Starts
Quick Starts are automated reference deployments for key workloads on the AWS Cloud. Each Quick Start launches, configures, and runs the AWS compute, network, storage, and other services required to deploy a specific workload on AWS, using AWS best practices for security and availability. This is the latest in a series of Quick Starts built by AWS in collaboration with AWS partners to automate the deployment of popular products and technologies on AWS.
