Amazon Inspector Now Provides an Exclusion List that Details Errors to Help Resolve Assessment Run Issues

Posted on: Jun 27, 2018

Amazon Inspector now shows you which instances or security checks are not evaluated in an assessment run and provides guidance to fix those issues. Assessment runs can fail to execute or might complete with errors for multiple reasons. With this launch, you can view the reasons and get guidance so you can pinpoint the issues, resolve them, and successfully execute assessment runs.

After running an assessment, you can view exclusions which show the instances and/or rules packages that could not be assessed, along with reasons and guidance to fix the issues. You can also preview exclusions on an assessment template before running an assessment to see what would be excluded. The post-assessment exclusions and preview of exclusions are available in the management console as well as through the AWS API and CLI.

Amazon Inspector is available in the following regions: US East (Northern Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Northern California), US West (Oregon), EU (Frankfurt), EU (Ireland), Asia Pacific (Mumbai), Asia Pacific (Seoul), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), and AWS GovCloud (US).
