NoSQL Workbench for Amazon DynamoDB is a client-side application that helps developers build scalable, high-performance data models, and simplifies query development and testing. Starting today, you can use AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) roles and temporary security credentials to grant users in your AWS account access to your DynamoDB resources from NoSQL Workbench. Previously, you could use only long-term AWS credentials (IAM user access key IDs and secret access keys) with NoSQL Workbench.
You can use NoSQL Workbench to build new data models easily and from scratch, or import and modify existing data models. You also can visualize data models based on your applications’ access patterns. With this launch, you now can create and provide trusted users with temporary security credentials to control access to your DynamoDB resources from NoSQL Workbench. Using IAM roles and temporary security credentials is an AWS security best practice because you do not need to store your AWS access keys for a long term in your code or configuration files.
