Today, AWS Marketplace announced the ability for independent software vendors (ISVs) to provide tags corresponding to the metered usage of their software. Customers can enable the vendor provided tags as cost allocation tags to gain visibility into third-party software spend.
ISVs can provide tags that help their customers identify the purpose, owner, and environment of AWS Marketplace AMI, SaaS, and Container software. Customers can view and activate the tags as cost allocation tags. The tags are made available in AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, and AWS Cost and Usage Report for you to view, track, and optimize costs, even if the software subscription is via a single account.
To learn more about using vendor provided tags to more accurately allocate your third-party software spend, visit the AWS Marketplace Documentation page. If you are an ISV interested in providing tags for your product usage, you can integrate with the AWS Marketplace Metering Service, or contact your AWS Marketplace representative.
