Amazon Macie now available in AWS Africa (Cape Town), Europe (Milan), and Middle East (Bahrain) Regions

Amazon Macie is now available in the AWS Africa (Cape Town), Europe (Milan), and Middle East (Bahrain) Regions. You can now discover sensitive data stored in these regions to help protect your AWS workloads and data in Amazon S3.

Available globally, Amazon Macie automates the discovery of sensitive data at scale. Once enabled, Macie automatically gathers a complete S3 inventory at the bucket level and automatically and continually evaluates every bucket to alert on any publicly accessible buckets, unencrypted buckets, or buckets shared or replicated with AWS accounts outside of a customer’s organization. Then, Macie applies machine learning and pattern matching techniques to the buckets you select to identify and alert you to sensitive data, such as personally identifiable information (PII), financial information, or credential materials. This can help you comply with regulations, such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and General Data Privacy Regulation (GDPR).

You can enable your 30-day free trial of Amazon Macie for the S3 bucket inventory and bucket-level evaluation with a single-click in the AWS Management console. Please see the AWS Regions page for all the regions where Amazon Macie is available. To learn more, see the Amazon Macie documentation page, and to start your 30-day free trial see the Amazon Macie pricing page.
