Today, AWS Service Catalog announces support for automatic association of application resources in AppRegistry based on AWS tags. With this release, customers can build applications using their preferred tools, and the associated resources are automatically added to the application based on their tags. Once registered, AppRegistry applications and their resources can be managed and assessed in tools like AWS Systems Manager Application Manager, AWS CloudWatch Application Insights, AWS Well-Architected, and AWS Resilience Hub.

You can now define the application tag key and value in AppRegistry, and resources are automatically added to your application as they are created. AppRegistry creates the application and an AWS Resource Group to track and help you structure and manage your application resources. From Application Manager, you can view the resources that power your application, as well as application cost using AWS Cost Explorer, Amazon CloudWatch alarms, AWS Config rule compliance, and Systems Manager OpsItems. AWS Systems Manager Automation Runbooks are also available to take action on your application’s resources.

This feature is available via the AWS Console, API and AWS Command Line Interface (CLI) in all AWS Regions except the AWS GovCloud (US) Regions, Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) region, operated by Sinnet, and the Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) region, operated by NWCD. To learn more, read the documentation on the Service Catalog AppRegistry.
