Today, AWS Backup is announcing support for restoring resources with tags copied from protected resources. AWS Backup is a fully managed service that centralizes and automates data protection across AWS services and hybrid workloads. This launch allows you to seamlessly extend using tag-based policies for access, cost allocation, compliance, and automation workflows for your restored resources.

Get started with restoring resources with tags using the AWS Backup console, API, or CLI. Now, restored resources are automatically tagged and therefore, can be managed just like primary resources across your organization via existing tag-based policies. Restoring resources with the required tags simplifies and expedites disaster recovery by eliminating the operational overhead of manually applying tags to resources post-restore.

This new feature is available in the following AWS Regions: US East (N Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (North California), US West (Oregon), Africa (Cape Town), Asia Pacific (Hong Kong), Asia Pacific (Hyderabad), Asia Pacific (Jakarta), Asia Pacific (Melbourne), Asia Pacific (Mumbai), Asia Pacific (Osaka), Asia Pacific (Seoul), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), Canada (Central), EU (Frankfurt), EU (Ireland), EU (London), EU (Milan), EU (Paris), EU (Stockholm), EU (Zurich), Middle East (Bahrain), Middle East (UAE), South America (Sao Paulo), AWS GovCloud (US-East), and AWS GovCloud (US-West).
