Amazon Pinpoint journeys now offers organizations the ability to estimate local time zone and allows them to contact customers at convenient times. Journeys are customized, multi-step engagement experience to send customer communication across channels such as SMS, email, push notifications, and voice.

Time zone is used in Amazon Pinpoint journeys to determine when to contact customers based on an endpoint’s local time and to respect quiet time rules for when messages should not be sent. An endpoint represents a destination that messages can be sent to, such as a mobile device, email address, or phone number. With the new feature, organizations can now estimate time zones of customers using the endpoint’s phone number, postal code, or both. For example, if a recipient’s phone number has a 312 area code, the recipient will receive messages in central time zone. This new feature will help the organizations to reach more customers through an Amazon Pinpoint journey.

The time zone estimation feature is available in the following AWS Regions: US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Oregon), Asia Pacific (Mumbai), Asia Pacific (Seoul), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), Canada (Central), Europe (Frankfurt), Europe (Ireland), and Europe (London).
