Amazon QuickSight now supports new axis configurations for small multiples and radar charts, empowering users to customize axis settings according to their use case. In small multiples, users now have the option to select either shared or independent axis configuration for both the X and Y axes, specifically for line and bar charts.

The use of independent y-axes in small multiples allows for easy comparison of categorical value distributions across panels and facilitates the analysis of temporal data for period-to-period changes. Additionally, it proves beneficial when comparing data with varying magnitudes or scales, ensuring accurate and focused analysis of each individual chart without the influence of scaling in other charts. Similarly, in hierarchical dimensions like product or region hierarchy, an independent X axis helps focus and compare individual items within a panel by displaying relevant X axis labels instead of display blank for missing values with common axis setting. For radar charts, the new shared axis option facilitates easy comparison across category axes, such as comparing test scores across different students. The 'auto' option automatically determines the optimal scale based on the user's specific use case, providing a seamless experience when switching between different chart configurations to explore data. The new axis configurations for small multiples and radar chart will be available in Amazon QuickSight Standard and Enterprise Editions in all QuickSight regions - US East (Ohio and N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), Asia Pacific (Mumbai, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo), Canada (Central), Europe (Frankfurt, Ireland and London), South America (São Paulo) and AWS GovCloud (US-West).
