Today, Amazon CodeCatalyst announces a new runtime docker image for customers to use with their build and test actions within workflows, along with the ability to choose between curated images. The new image contains updated tooling, including Node18.

Until now, customers had to specify their own images if they wanted to use recently released versions of tools such as Node and Python. Users can now select between two cached images for their build and test actions, the image released in November 2022 and the image released in March 2024. Users can also use their own images if desired. Existing workflow actions will continue to run on older images until they are updated by the workflow author.

This feature is available in all Regions where CodeCatalyst is generally available. To learn more, see Working with runtime environment Docker images in the CodeCatalyst documentation.
