Families and students now learn with Alexa in their homes, and EdTech companies are using Alexa to help bridge the gap in engaging and accessible at-home learning. Two EdTech startups, NuMoola and Ecree, announced Alexa skills to help facilitate student learning using voice.

The U.S. government has spent the last 16 years moving toward IPv6 adoption, requiring federal agencies to operationally deploy IPv6 for public internet servers and internal applications. AWS is committed to the enablement of IPv6, and our cloud services enable public sector customers to move to IPv6 as mission allows.

About 40 million MRI scans are performed in the United States every year. MRIs are a valuable part of diagnostic plans, but as they exist today, they may not always be a part of a patient’s care plan. A research team at the New York University (NYU) Langone Center set out to make MRIs more accessible for more patients by using artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and the power of cooperative open data sharing.

The Global Data Egress Waiver (GDEW) program helps eligible researchers and academic institutions use AWS cloud storage, computing, and database services by waiving data egress fees. GDEW can be a valuable tool that gives eligible researchers and institutions a more predictable budget, which in turns allows them to have more direct access to the cloud than they might otherwise. Georgia has been at the forefront of a booming technology sector. Forbes named Atlanta one of the 5 U.S. Cities Poised to Become Tomorrow’s Tech Mecca, a city where the number of tech jobs have grown 46 percent since 2010. This new initiative put forward by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), the Georgia Department of Education (GADOE), the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), and Amazon Web Services (AWS) will help support the growth trajectory of Georgia’s technology sector, address both the opportunities and challenges presented by the pandemic, and ensure that training, curriculum, and jobsearch support opportunities are available to rural communities.

The NGA is working with Research Improving People’s Lives (RIPL), a Rhode Island-based nonprofit organization that works with governments to help them use data, science, and technology to improve policy and lives. Using machine learning (ML), artificial intelligence (AI), and Amazon Web Services (AWS), RIPL unlocks previously-siloed government administrative data and puts it to work for jobseekers by delivering career-path and reskilling recommendations, as well as personalized potential employment opportunities that help state leaders make measurable progress against unemployment.

The world’s waters are largely unknown, with vast areas still unmapped. To protect and preserve the oceans, we need to extensively understand its systems, and data is at the core of that process. The Amazon Sustainability Data Initiative (ASDI) is committed to enabling better access to the foundational data that can help researchers, businesses, and policy-makers better monitor and manage the ocean’s valuable resources.

Vaccine demand brought unprecedented load to the launch of Texas A&M Health’s vaccination sign-up site. The Texas A&M Health team used AWS to develop a solution to reduce outages and errors, and scale REDCap to get vaccines to Texans.
